I know that many of you have seen and or heard more than enough of the cartoon published by the New York Post...

I defend the 'right to free speech'... But as a realist I know that even though the speech is free, someone usually has to 'pay a price'...

The police have just shot what is supposed to represent the rabid monkey that attacked the lady in Connecticut.

One thing that has not been talked about a lot is that on page 11 of the paper is a picture of President Obama signing the stimulus bill into law and on page 12 is the cartoon in question...
^
The New York Post says that there was nothing racial intended. I want to know what you think...

What do you feel the post was really trying to say to us? What is the price tag on this type of rhetoric? Did you see the humor in it? How did it make you feel personally? Please post your comments in the comment section of the blog...

I understand free speech but this was very over the top and disrespectful. To make the comment "they'll have to find someone else....." was clearly an indication that this was an inference to our President Barack Obama. I am saddened to know that a newspaper such as the Post would allow someone to print this type of message. Not only was this racial to compare our President to a monkey but one could also draw from this that there are thoughts of the President being shot. We have come so far, made history and we still have to read about bull like this. There should be serious serious ramifications.

I wish everyone could just move on. I took it as parody of the fact that the stimulus bill was ill concieved, ill prepared, and generally a circus type exercise. I did not see a racial connection until everyone started forcing that view on me. I am sick and tired of racism, those who are racist, and those who keep trying to see racism in every comment, article or action.
I was surprised to see something like that in the post. "being so pro democrat". I agree that this isn't humor its a poor attemp to skate the edge of racism. I think a written apology to Barack Obama is in order.

This cartoon was in very poor taste! It implies what we as a nation have been fighting for generations. That black people are no better than over-excited primates and should be dealt with accordingly. You would think that after years of progress and the election of President Obama, that we wouldn't cater to or even still have such sub-conscientious racist tendencies. It's sad that we continue to see such disrespect from noted and high profile sources over the years.(Jimmy the Greek, Don Imus, Dog the bounty Hunter and now the New York Post.)
